Now the latest topics in Announcements will automatically show up on the homepage, replacing the old news feature.
To make this work, only moderators can post Announcements, but if you write a thread that you want to be there, just ask a moderator to move it! They should do it for you unless it would be unreasonable.
In the first post of the announcement, please don't post a video or a large image. Also, please don't do anything that would stretch the homepage horizontally on 1024x768 resolution (wider than the banner at the top, including both link bars).
There's been a few cases where people have PMed others on this site with links, the latest is with a .ru (Russian) domain that redirects to a bad site.
I recommend anyone receiving a PM from someone they do not know forwards it to a smod or higher, this way we can suspend the account in question.
Include the account name as well.
If you notice a link (or links) that leads to a bad site on the forums, use the report option under the post. You do not need to reply to those topics.
Anyway, just wanted to post this - not including the account name since the person is already suspended.
I'm also making a change to how "on leave" works. When a moderator is inactive for a long time, he or she may lose moderator powers, but will still be in the Moderator group. Upon his or her return, powers will not necessarily be returned instantly. However, full moderator status will be given back after being active for a while, so I know that one isn't only here for a short visit. ...
